Big jolt for Trinamool in Rajya Sabha, MP Sukhendu Roy submits resignation
Two days after three people were found dead inside a parked car near the Peeragarhi flyover in Delhi, police on Wednesday arrested a self-styled ‘baba’ identified as Kamaruddin in connection with the case. He has been booked for murder and is currently being interrogated to ascertain the sequence of events and motive behind the deaths.
Police said the accused had been in contact with the victims for nearly a year and allegedly targeted them by promising “dhanvarsha” through tantric rituals. During questioning, he admitted to preparing laddoos mixed with poison and travelling with the victims in their car. He allegedly made them consume liquor, cold drinks and the poisoned sweets before fleeing with their cash and valuables after they lost consciousness.
The bodies of a 76-year-old man, a 47-year-old property dealer and a 40-year-old woman were discovered inside a white Tigor car around 3:50 pm on Sunday after passersby alerted authorities about a vehicle parked in the service lane of the flyover. The elderly man was found in the driver’s seat, while the other two were seated inside the vehicle. CCTV footage reportedly showed the accused sitting in the front passenger seat earlier that day.
During inspection of the car, police recovered liquor bottles, cold drink bottles, empty glasses, mobile phones, cash, helmets, jackets, Aadhaar cards and other personal belongings. Investigators believe the accused gained the victims’ trust over time before executing the alleged crime.
The arrest marks the first major breakthrough in the case. Police said further interrogation is underway to establish the exact chain of events and determine whether the accused was involved in similar incidents.
